We had a wonderful time on the Pride Of America. It was our first cruise, and as I have an aversion to being on the ocean, I was apprehensive of the trip. The conditions on board, were excellent and the itinerary was very enjoyable. There were a couple of sailing days out to sea otherwise , it was enjoy yourself to the fullest each day and in the morning a new port for which to have fun.

Food was quite enjoyable. Plenty of choice to keep the us happy. I especially liked the Cadillac Cafe that ran 24 hrs a day. If like we were coming back from a tour , or just not in the mood for a large room full of people, the small intimate nature of the cafe was just the ticket. Not a big menu, mainly American fast food (hot dogs, cheeseburgers and fries mainly) but a very nice place to be.

We had a balcony room right by the starboard nose of the ship. The balcony bent a little towards the nose , so it was possible to get a slightly forward view of our travels. It wasn't a long walk from our room to a lift of stairs, as the ship widely catered for both all along the ship. Not a lot of space in the room , but on a ship you wouldn't be expecting that anyway.

My wife and I didn't do a lot of onboard activities as we were on a tour nearly everyday. The ship became our place to crash and relax. If you want to do a lot on board there are plenty of things catered for . The weather in that region is very likely to be good outside, so outdoor activities are a must for those looking for sports and swimming.

Definitely go on excursions. The weather is more often than not good and the range of activities vary from island to island. There isn't much that you can't do and enjoy. High energy tours, yes. Relaxing tours, yes. There is a couple of independant tour companies that run along side of the Pride Of America tours, we took a couple and were looked after very well. Don't feel that you have to stick to the Norwegian tours.

My wife and I can't afford to travel every year , so we make a promise to never repeat a destination. But then we see an add or a picture of the Pride Of America and our resolve starts to weaken. May have to break our promise some day.
